Our mind is a powerful tool, being able to find the magic in the mundane is a skill and a state of mind that is accessible to each and every one of us.
“There are only two ways to live your life: as though nothing is a miracle or as though everything is a miracle”.
So if the magic is in the moment, how do we access that so that we are able to listen to and learn from its wisdom?
Presence is the portal to magic, it’s just a matter of switching it on.
The magic in the moment can be witnessed by watching a playful puppy or a baby as they experience everything for the first time. They fully experience pure joy in every single thing around them. Nothing is mundane, everything contains magic.
What we often write off as monotonous is really us just being caught up in our thoughts, our worries, our projections of the millions of “what if’s” that we contemplate every second of every day.
Our worries destroy the magic, they take us far from where we physically are and keep us trapped in the depths of our mind.
Our mind is such a powerful tool, what we train it to focus on becomes bigger. With a little bit of daily effort you can train your mind to capture more of the magic that surrounds you, which you couldn’t see before because your fears and worries had taken over.
So how can we shift it from focusing on our worries, our fears and instead open ourselves up to the wonder that is found in the present
So how can we bring that childlike wonder, to enable us to access the magic in every little thing?
One Practice presence in your daily life. See some more example of being present here.
Two Put your phone down and look up. We can’t see the magic if we shut ourselves off to the external world by being immersed in ourselves. Take a social media free day once a week and use this time to explore the world around you. Head to the beach, go for a hike. Have an honest conversation with a friend and watch the magic unfold. Stop putting off living for later and do the things that you want to do NOW.
Three Believe in yourself. If you feel resistance reading that, you need to practice it more. This sounds basic but how can we see beauty and magic in things around us if we don’t see that in ourselves first? Without this ability you’ll constantly be seeking external approval and wasting your precious time in the process.
Practice these 3 simply things daily and you’ll be able to open yourself up not only to the magic of the moment but to the magic that will follow.
Every thought you have, every word you speak, every miracle that you witness enables you to continue to believe in the magic around you. The more we focus on the magic, the more we open ourselves up to experiencing it every single day.
And if that sounds too woo woo for you, take it from Albert:
“Everything is energy and that’s all there is to it. Match the frequency of reality you want and you cannot help but get that reality. It can be no other way. This is not philosophy. This is physics” – Albert Einstein
