The Relationship you have with Yourself

picHave you ever heard the saying treat others the way in which you want to be treated?

Yes you might say, I am always nice to the waiter at a restaurant, polite when I meet new people and always do something special for birthdays and Valentines days.

But this saying holds more weight than that. Looking inward, it’s about your relationship with yourself, and it’s from here where your relationships with others will grow. Deepak Chopra says “Like attracts like, and… the more your light will draw another light to you. This single point, I am told, has helped the most people find their love.”
Ok, so how can we practice this? Here are three simple ways to bring light into your relationships with others and into the relationship with yourself.

One Be kind to yourself. An act of kindness could be as simple as taking yourself out for a nice lunch, or going to a yoga class. If you are kind to yourself it’s hard for others to act harshly towards you.

Two Act with integrity. Really commit to what you promise yourself. If you say you will wake up and go for a walk for 10 minutes, be committed to your plan and yourself. Follow through. If you are finding it hard to follow through, maybe you need to question what your intention is, and see if your plan matches your intention. Is it actually realistic? Start small so that you can start to keep your promises as it will empower you and make you feel really good.

Three Don’t judge yourself. Notice your thoughts. If you are thinking of thoughts that make you feel heavy e.g. Self limiting thoughts, like “I can’t do it” Just be aware of the thought and acknowledge it. Is it really true? If not, let it go and choose a thought that you would like to be true like “I think I can do it if I just give it a go”. Don’t punish yourself for having the original thought, be grateful for it as it has allowed you to become aware and choose a thought that will actually serve you in a positive way. You would be surprised how far practicing this idea will change how you feel and improve your inner glow.

So why not spend more time doing things that are in an act of love yourself? It’s not a selfish thing to do, it’s actually empowering and will improve the relationship you have with yourself and every one around you x
